Welcome to Widnes Sea Cadets Home page, This is our first attempt at a web page and if you have any suggestions to Improve our site, we would like to hear from you. The Sea Cadet Corps is a national youth organisation for boys and girls aged 12 - 18 with many Units having Junior Sea Cadets aged 10 - 12, It is open to all young people regardless of race, religion or colour and draws its members from widely different backgrounds. The Corps is disciplined and uniformed, however membership does not imply a career in the Services or Merchant Navy. The aim of the Sea Cadet Corps is to help young people towards responsible adulthood by encouraging valuable personal attributes and high standards of conduct using a nautical theme based on the customs of the Royal Navy. Through adventurous activities the Cadets become Self - reliant and through teamwork they develop consideration and respect for others. The Corps encourages high personal standards and a sense of purpose, and provides a sound foundation for future careers. Training is run by Volunteer Officers and Instructors and takes place in approximately 400 Local Units two evenings a week. From time to time, there are many exciting opportunities for Cadets to visit Naval bases, and go on board H.M. Ships, from Aircraft Carriers to Submarines, Cadets also have the chance to sail on the Corps own Flagship, the famous Square - rigged tall ship, T.S. ROYALIST. If you are 12 - 18 and you think this could be for you, contact your local Unit or come and see the activities for yourself and have the opportunity to Have some SERIOUS FUN. |
